The Linux Setup - NuxRo, Stella GNU/Linux
NuxRo is behind Stella, a distro that keeps coming across my radar. NuxRo’s answers are brief, which makes sense given his terminal-driven setup. In a lot of ways, it’s an interesting advertisement for the power and simplicity of Stella.
Who are you, and what do you do?
I’m a full-time sysadmin and open source fan. I have exclusively been a GNU/Linux user for the past decade.
On the internet you’ll find me using the nickname Nux or NuxRo.
What distribution do you run on your main desktop/laptop?
On both my work station and personal laptop I use a CentOS (6) remix that I “built,” called Stella.
What software do you depend upon with this distribution?
I spend most of my “life” in a terminal. I depend heavily on applications such as gnome-terminal, screen, openssh, irssi, cone, vim, mc, etc.
For web browsing I use Mozilla Firefox.
What kind of hardware do you run it on?
My hardware is modest. I’m currently writing from an Acer Aspire 8530G.
What is your ideal Linux setup?
My “dream” setup is a laptop with long battery life, SSD and most importantly, a high resolution 4:3/square display.
Will you share a screenshot of your desktop?
I’m using the default Gnome2 layout that comes with CentOS/Stella; for the past year I’ve been starring at this wallpaper: http://img.nux.ro/cylon/bsg4.jpg (yes, I’m a SciFi junkie!)
